What are the steps involved in a dental implant procedure for multiple missing teeth?

STEP 1 – Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

Your implant dentist will examine your medical history, perform a physical examination, and take x-rays. They can also address any concerns or questions you may have. If you both agree that a fixed implant-supported bridge is the best course of action, an appointment is made.

STEP 2 – Placing the Dental Implants

First, remaining teeth are removed, and then dental implants are placed. You have the option to remain awake or be put to sleep (Sleep Dentistry). Typically, 4 to 6 dental implants are recommended in the upper jaw, while 2 to 4 dental implants are suggested in the lower jaw, which has a higher bone quality and density. Generally, the more dental implants you have, the more support you will have, and your dentures will move less. The implants will take around 3 to 4 months to osseo-integrate (fuse into your jaw bone), during which time you will wear traditional temporary dentures so that you have teeth when you leave the appointment.

STEP 3 – Placing Abutments and Fitting Dentures

After osseo-integration, implant abutments are placed directly into your dental implants. These will then connect with rubber attachments within your dentures. Implant-supported removable dentures do not cover as much of your oral tissues as traditional dentures. They are more comfortable, improve function, make maintenance easier, and have a more natural appearance.

*Please note that any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Benefits of Affordable Dental Implants in Ellenbrook, Perth

Missing multiple teeth can affect your smile. Replacing them with dental implants is the next best thing to real, natural teeth.

Teeth have many important functions, such as helping us smile, speak, and enjoy food. They also support our facial structures, which can impact the way we look. Even one missing tooth can affect the way we chew our food, our appearance, and the structure of neighboring teeth. If a person has multiple missing teeth, their appearance changes noticeably, and they can lose confidence and become embarrassed about their smile.

When teeth at the back are lost or all teeth are missing:

  • Your tooth support is lost, causing your chin to sag and move closer to your nose.
  • This loss of support causes your mouth to sag more, and your lips and the side of your mouth can shrink.
  • Cheekbones sink in, increasing wrinkles and aging your facial appearance.

Restoring your dental support is like having a “dental facelift”!

Everyone working at Coolamon Dental are so helpful & friendly. Dr. Gen is so patient with me knowing I am terrified of going to the dentist. The ladies in reception put you at ease as soon as you come in the door. They are so friendly & have a laugh with you which helps when you are so nervous. The dentist explains everything that's going to be done so there are no surprises. The rooms are absolutely spotless. I now don't mind going to this dentist. Can highly recommend Coolamon Dental.

Shaun and Jenny were fantastic.
I came in for a toothache and they were able to fit me in. I'm a nervous patient and Shaun did an amazing job of calming my nerves and explaining the issue and options and then sorted the problem with minimal discomfort.

I'll be back for regular checkups!

The staff here are all very friendly and helpful. The dentist was gentle and thoughtful. As I'm in a wheelchair he and his nurse were also very helpful. I recommend this practice and will go to them in the future.
